Day 1: Arrival in Munich (approx. 55 km) +
Arrive at Munich. Welcome by the guide and transfer to the center. Munich is the international beer capital and stage for the world-famous Oktoberfest. It is also the headquarters of the prestigious BMW company. Above all, Munich is a mixture of hospitable traditions and modernity. Day 2: Heidelberg (approx. 345 km) +
Travel through Bavaria and Baden-Wuerttemberg. Arrive at romantic Heidelberg, the city that Goethe found so special. Day 3: Rothenburg – Nuremberg (approx. 270 km) +
Depart for Rothenburg ob der Tauber, a stopover on the famous Romantic Road, with a fine Middle Age heritage of old houses, picturesque squares, fountains, towers, doors and fortifications, shops and wine cellars. Leisure time. In the afternoon, continue to Nuremberg. Merchants, inventors and intellectuals made Nuremberg one of the most prestigious cities of the Middle Ages where arts and trade flourished under the protection of its castle. Day 4: Dresden (approx. 330 km) +
Today we travel through Saxony to arrive at Dresden. The capital of the free state of Saxony and former residence of the prince electors and the Saxon kings, is nicknamed the “Florence of the Elbe” because of its architectural treasures. The city is situated on the left bank of the river and over the centuries has amassed many architectural masterpieces. Despite the severe destruction the city endured during the Second World War, Dresden has managed to conserve or rebuild its beautiful buildings. Guided visit of the old town. Day 5: Berlin (approx. 220 km) +
Travel through Saxony-Anhalt before entering Brandenburg and Berlin. Now reliving a golden age after the Fall of the wall, it is a capital of creation, eldorado for artists and a trendy city of fashion and design as well as amazing architecture. The city has always been a major center for artistic creation throughout the centuries: theatre, dance, literature, cabaret, music, painting. Guided tour of the German capital starting in the East. Day 6: Potsdam – Schwerin – Luebeck (approx. 315 km) +
Depart for Potsdam, former summer residence of the Prussian kings. The garrison town of Potsdam became one of Europe’s most sumptuous residential cities 300 years ago. The Prussian kings and their successors developed the Baroque image of the city to a powerful monument to Classicism listed by Unesco in 1990 as a site of cultural importance. Guided tour of Sanssouci castle and the former Dutch quarter with its courtyards, cafés and avant-garde galleries. Travel to Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the little town of Schwerin, nestled in a green lake area reflecting the stormy Northern sky. Photo stop in the castle’s Baroque garden. Day 7: Luebeck – Hamburg (approx. 180 km) +
Guided visit of Luebeck, which was founded in 1143. A medieval atmosphere and historic relicts fill the city even today and recall its past as an imperial and Hanseatic city. The old town surrounded by water is witness to 1000 years of living history and has a Unesco listing. Don’t miss the impressive fortification “Holsentor” with its double tower, Luebeck’s emblem, and St Mary’s church with the world’s highest brick ceiling. Depart for Hamburg. Guided tour of Germany’s second largest city. See St Michael’s church, the city’s emblem, the entertainment district of St Pauli, the ships and canals and the Speicherstadt (brick warehouse).
