Mongolia is known for vast, rugged expanses and nomadic culture. An introductory tour of Mongolia with visit to its capital, Ulaanbaatar, Terelj National Park and Hustai National Park.

Description

Day 1. Arrive Ulaanbaatar
Upon arrival in Mongolia and after clear the custom formalities at the airport/railway station, you will be met by your local driver and taken to your hotel.

The capital city of Mongolia was Ulaanbaatar founded in 1639 at some 400 km from the current location. Since then it proved to be a real nomadic city and changed locations more than 10 times before settling to the current location in 1778. Situated at an altitude of 1580 meters above sea level, Ulaanbaatar’s the center of the political, economic and cultural life of Mongolia. The capital Ulaanbaatar has 1 400 000 people, it’s estimated that 60 % of them being under 40 years old.

Day 2. Ulaanbaatar/Terelj National Park (B/L/D)
After breakfast check out from the hotel, meet your English speaking guide and visit the National Museum of Mongolia and the Genghis Monument on the Sukhbaatar Square.

Enjoy a welcome lunch. Then travel to Terelj National Park with a stop at the impressive 46m Genghis Khan statue – the newest landmark of Mongolia.

Arrive in Terelj, transfer to Ger camp. Dinner and rest.
Overnight in a Ger Camp.

Day 3. Terelj/Hustai National Park (B/L/D)
This morning we visit the Turtle Rock and the Temple of Meditation in Terelj (optional horse riding available).

In the afternoon drive to Hustai National Park and check in to Hustai camp.

Watch a documentary and visit the small museum. In the evening view the Takh wild horses, aka Przewalski horses, in wilderness. Overnight in a Ger Camp.

Hustai National Park is surrounded by mountains, thick forests and lush meadows which are home to the Przewalski endangered wild horse “Takhi” and other 60 species of mammals and a vast range of plants. Hustai is also an excellent place for bird watching, horse riding, hiking and nomadic culture experiencing.

Day 4. Hustai/Ulaanbaatar (B/L/D)
This morning after breakfast we will visit a nomadic family to see their lifestyle.

Afterwards, travel back to the capital. Visit the Gandan Monastery which is the centre of Buddhism in Mongolia, and the Bogd Khan’s Palace Museum.

This evening we will enjoy a performance of song and dance given by a local cultural group. Overnight in hotel in Ulaanbaatar.

Day 5. Depart Ulaanbaatar
You will be transferred to the airport/train station for your onward trip.
