DAY 1: ARRIVE CHRISTCHURCH / INTERNATIONAL ANTARCTIC CENTRE
On arrival visit the International Antarctic Centre next door before transferring to your accommodation.

Enter through the ice tunnel and arrive at an exhibit depicting the early Antarctic explorers legacy, then experience a stunning light and sound show of the four seasons of Antarctica, where it ‘snows’ every 6 minutes.

Continue on through Scott Base, New Zealand’s base down on the ice, then head outside into ‘Antarctica’, the snow & ice experience where it’s a stunning Antarctic summer’s day at -8 degrees. The Antarctic storm blows through ‘Antarctica’ regularly. A highlight of the visit is the Penguin Encounter, where clients can view Little Blue Penguins in a combined indoor/outdoor viewing area, accessed on two levels. The Penguins held here have been rescued and cared for, some since they were chicks.

DAY 2: CHRISTCHURCH TRAM AND GONDOLA
This morning you will take a short bus ride to the Base Station of the Gondola. Soar suspending above the valleys as the birds fly beneath your cable car.

Enjoy breathtaking views of the Christchurch cityscape, over the Canterbury Plains out to the mighty Southern Alps. Revive your spirits with a snack at the new Red Rock Cafe, and browse what is on offer in the shop. At the conclusion of your Gondola ride, return to Christchurch CBD to board the tram and enjoy the best Christchurch has to offer; beautiful parks and gardens, quaint seaside suburbs and superb views of the city and surrounds. The tram driver will also explain about the plans for the rejuvenation of the city following the major earthquakes of 2010 and 2011. Hop on and hop off the tram at your leisure to further explore all that the Garden City has to offer.

DAY 3: ARTHUR’S PASS TOUR WITH TRAIN, LUNCH & JET BOAT
Today you will be collected from your accommodation for a full day Arthur’s Pass Tour with Train & Jet Boat. Travel by road to Springfield at the foothills of the Southern Alps. At Springfield, board the world famous TranzAlpine train to travel through the Southern Alps to Arthurs Pass viewing the alpine scenery through panoramic windows along the way. The TranzAlpine is renowned as one of the top ten train journeys in the world. From Arthurs Pass, tour by road over the snow-capped Southern Alps in the Arthurs Pass National park and on to the Otira Gorge to make a photo stop. Visit the old village of Otira before returning to Arthur’s Pass for lunch at Wobbly Kea Restaurant.

After lunch explore the village and some of the many surrounding walks. The return journey to Christchurch is by road, stopping for an exhilarating jet boat ride through the spectacular gorges of the Waimakariri River.

Following the jet boat, a visit will be made to a farm for late afternoon tea, followed by a sheep shearing and sheet mustering demonstration. Tour concludes at approximately 6:00pm, at which time hotel drop offs will commence.

DAY 4: DEPART CHRISTCHURCH
Transfer to Christchurch Airport for your departure flight.
