The first stop will be at the Royal Temple of Mengwi, which was built in 1634 to serve as the family temple of the Mengwi dynasty. Surrounded by a moat, the temple is a truly stunning example of historical temple architecture with multi-roofed meru (shrines) and intricately carved wooden gates.
Your tour continues with a visit to Pura Batukaru, a Hindu temple on the slopes of Mount Batukaru. Originally built in the 11th century and rebuilt to its current form in 1959, the temple has a seven-tiered structure of meru (shrines) dedicated to the god Mahadewa. Pura Batukaru is the starting point of your two-hour cycling. From here, you will embark on a leisurely ride through picturesque villages and lush scenery, passing through the village of Jatiluwih. This village is famous for its terraced rice fields and bamboo forest which has been declared as one of the UNESCO’s World Heritage sites. Built in 1663, the temple with an 11-storey meru (shrine) dedicated to god Shiva is used for offering ceremonies to the goddess of water, Dewi Danu. Return to Ubud in the late afternoon.

Breakfast will be served at the hotel. You will then be picked up for your transfer to the day’s first activity: a stand-up paddle-boarding lesson. A trendy new sport that has recently arrived in Bali from Hawaii, stand-up paddle-boarding (or SUP) is suitable for everybody.
SUP can be practiced on shallow water and without waves and does not require surfing experience. As it involves both strength and endurance, the sport is also a good alternative to other health-promoting activities such as jogging, hiking and climbing. And, because it is practiced on water, it has a relaxing and almost meditative quality. Afterwards, you will head to a local restaurant for a healthy lunch.
Return to the hotel before the afternoon excursion which is a visit to one of Bali’s most scenic temples, Pura Luhur Uluwatu. One of the nine key directional temples, Pura Luhur Uluwatu is majestically perched on the edge of a steep cliff 70 meters above sea level. In the evening you will witness a performance of Bali’s famous Kecak Dance. This almost hypnotic dance-drama is based on an ancient Balinese ritual. A large group all-male performers sit on the ground in a circle and sway with the rhythm as they repeatedly chant ‘chark-a, chark-a, chark-a’.
Afterward, a drive to Jimbaran for a BBQ seafood dinner under the stars on one of Bali’s glorious beaches. The seafood warung will serve an enticing platter of prawns, grilled fish, squid, clams and shellfish, accompanied by rice, vegetables and sambal (spicy hot chili sauce).
