Day 1 Vladivostok (D)
Arrive at Vladivostok, transfer to the hotel and enjoy a welcome reception dinner.
Day 2 Vladivostok (B/L/D)
A morning tour of Vladivostok before boarding the Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express to start your journey westwards to Moscow.
Day 3 Onboard-Khabarovsk (B/L/D)
Full day on board the Golden Eagle passing through Khabarovsk, where we stop for a short city tour. Rejoin the train and cross the River Amur, as we make our way west.
Day 4 Onboard (B/L/D)
Follows the Shilka and Amur Rivers and enjoy Russia at its most beautiful and remote, as the landscape unfolds outside your window.
Day 5 Onboard (B/L/D)
Watch a DVD, practice Russian or socialise in the Bar Car and with the resident musician as you wile away.
Day 6 Ulaan Baatar, Mongolia (B/L/D)
Arrive into Ulaan Baatar, Mongolia and home of Genghis Khan. Enjoy a city tour and Mongol style lunch served in a traditional Ger. Return to the train as we head back into Russia.
Day 7 Ulan Ude (B/L/D)
Arrive in the capital of Buryat Republic – Ulan Ude. Visit the Old Believers Village for the history and local culture before a traditional meal and a local dance and music concert.
Day 8 Lake Baikal (B/L/D)
We wind our way through tunnels along cliff hugging tracks above the lake Baikal with a vista of snow capped peaks along the shore. Weather permitting, enjoy a BBQ including freshly smoked fish at one of picturesque bays. A visit to Listvyanka, a small Baikal settlement nestling at the base of the surrounding hills.
Day 9 Irkutsk (B/L/D)
Arrive in Irkutsk, the ‘Paris of Siberia’. Visit the Decembrist House museum dedicated to the memory of the exiled aristocrats who were forced to flee to this remote outpost after the failed revolution of 1825. Enjoy a private concert before return to the train for dinner.
Day 10 Onboard (B/L/D)
A day to unwind and review on the journey we have experienced so far.
Day 11 Novosibirsk (B/L/D)
Visit modern ‘Soviet’ city Novosibirsk and the world’s largest opera house – an architectural marvel. A photo stop at the imposing statue of the iconic political leader – Lenin.
Day 12 Yekaterinburg (B/L/D)
Yekaterinburg is the capital of the Urals and Russia’s 3rd largest city. Visit the site where the Romanov, Nicholas II was executed with his family by the Bolsheviks and now a church dedicated to their memory. Cross the Europe/Asia divide as we leave Yekaterinburg.
Day 13 Kazan (B/L/D)
Arrive at the historic city of Kaza, the capital of Tatarstan by the River Volga. Visit Kremlin Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage with its stunning mosque and onion-domed cathedral.
Day 14 Moscow (B/L/D)
Arrive in Moscow after travelling over 10,600 km. Tour the Red Square, an iconic symbol of Russia and see an eclectic mix of fascinating architecture, the ornate St Basil’s Cathedral, the Kremlin and the sombre and evocative site of Lenin’s tomb. Transfer to the Marriot Royal Aurora hotel and enjoy the Farewell Dinner.
Day 15 Moscow (B)
Following breakfast, transfer to the airport.
