Beach & Rainforest Nature Safari

Day 1 (L/D) Phuket / Krabi or Surat Thani – Khao Sok National Park
Pick up from your hotel in Phuket, Krabi, Surat Thani or Khao Lak, and transfer to Khao Sok. En-route, glimpses of tropical rural life can be caught.

Upon arrival at Elephant Hills Camp, a buffet lunch with a variety of delicious Thai dishes will be served. After lunch, you will relax during a jungle river canoe trip down the Sok River. With the help of a local river guide, drift along the jungle river passing Limestone Mountains and cliffs covered with exotic tropical vegetation. Then, get out of the canoe and head over to the elephant sanctuary. You will have the chance to participate at the amazing “Elephant Experience”: interact with the magnificent animals, feed them and take a bath with them.
We will then end the day with dinner.

Day 2 (B/L/D) Khao Sok National Park
Today, you will be transferred to the West Coast. Then, board a speed boat near to Takua Pa to explore the mysterious maze of channels in the mangrove forest. You may have the chance to spot some animals like mangrove cat snakes, reticulated pythons or red-tailed racers. A wide variety of bird species inhabit the area as well. Cruising through the channels, we finally meet and board a classical Burmese junk.

Lunch will be served on board, but not before you had the opportunity to explore the nearby mangrove creek in a self-paddled canoe. Appreciate the breathtaking views of distant mangroves and banyan trees stretch to the horizon. On the way back to Elephant Camp, you will stop at a local market. In the evening, you will deserve to have a rest and to enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding jungle-covered mountains.

Day 3 (B/L) Khao Sok – Phuket / Krabi or Surat Thani

After a good night, it is time for a wholesome breakfast before exploring the jungle by walking. This is an excellent opportunity to explore the ecology of one of the world’s oldest rainforests, to see a great variety of exotic plants, tropical hardwood trees with huge roots, orchids, palms, ferns, bamboos and mosses.

If the weather permits, the lunch will be served in the rainforest and the food will be cooked in bamboo, an old tradition of jungle explorers from past centuries. Unfortunately after lunch, the beautiful experience will end: it will be time to return to Elephant Hills, then onward transfer to your hotel in Phuket / Krabi or Surat Thani or to the airport. After this trip, you will always know how it feels to be close to nature in the jungle, something that you will never forget.

Jungle Lake Safari

Day 2 (B/L/D) Khao Sok National Park
Today, you will explore Cheow Lan Lake by local long-tail boat. This incredible cruise across emerald waters is passing towering rainforest covered Limestone Mountains to the “”Guilin” of Southern Thailand. This wonderful lake is home to various wild animals as monkeys, birds, amphibians, reptiles, tigers and even leopards.

Then, you will lead to the floating Elephant Hills Rainforest Camp, situated in the heart of the national park. After lunch there, you will explore the jungle by walking. This is an excellent opportunity to explore the ecology of one of the world’s oldest rainforests, to see a great variety of exotic plants, tropical hardwood trees with huge roots, orchids, palms, ferns, bamboos and mosses.

In the evening, you will deserve to have a rest and to watch the sun set behind the towering limestone mountains from the deckchair in front of your tent.

Accommodation at the floating Rainforest Camp

Day 3 (B/L) Khao Sok – Phuket / Krabi or Surat Thani
After breakfast, your guide will invite you to join in on a guided canoe safari into the little channels and side arms of Cheow Lan Lake. Take one of the kayaks and start scanning the tree tops for lazy hornbill birds or energetic primates. You will find yourself in heart of the rainforest on a silent adventure.

Before traveling on, the last lunch will be served at the floating tented camp. Then, it will be time to return to the pier and move on to your next destination. Transfer to Phuket, Krabi or Surat Thani.

OVERVIEW

Elephant Hills is Thailand’s first luxury jungle camp combining the camp idea of African national park with Thai tropical forest environment. 20 luxurious tents are tailor-made and set in the largest area of rainforest in Southern Thailand. Each tent features twin beds, fan, kettle, and a luxurious bathroom. The tents provide ample space and are well protected against mosquitoes and other possible intruders. The furniture is handmade by the camp’s very own skilled craftsmen using natural materials and provides all the comfort a guest would normally find in a hotel room.

The Elephant Camp comprises 35 luxurious, tailor-made tents and the floating Rainforest Camp, one of the world’s only luxury floating tented camps, was opened in 2011 and is situated on the emerald green waters of Cheow Larn Lake.

Both camps are situated in the Khao Sok National Park in Southern Thailand, approximately two hours apart from each other, close to popular beach destinations like Phuket, Khao Lak, Krabi and even Koh Samui.
